Well it’s finally getting cool outside, and you can tell it’s fall with all the football chatter!! I know This Girl’s Lovin’ Me Some Football!! Fortunately for me I grew up in Oklahoma, moved to Dallas after high school and have lived on the Gulf Coast for 20 years, so it always makes for an interesting outing to local sports bars!! BIG FAN OF OU (Oklahoma University), Dallas COWBOYS, & when the Cowboys aren’t playing the New Orleans Saints, then I’m a Big Fan of THE SAINTS (How ‘bout them Saints..Woo Hoo)..LOL...So you can imagine the fun‐friendly banter I get into when watching some great games with those who like the opposite teams!! BOOMER SOONERS ~ DA BOYS ~ WHO DAT for me!!! LOL!!!! There’s a new addition to Gulf Shores, and even more so, a new addition to LuLu’s!! The word is getting out, and Lucy B Goode is fast becoming a favorite among foodies, those who love their dishes made with the freshest local ingredients, and those who just want to unwind in a beautiful relaxing atmosphere over looking the beautiful yachts in Homeport Marina!! With now a days so many dishes at venues being made with prepackaged and process foods, it was A‐M‐A‐Z‐I‐N‐G the flavors that come from just using fresh, local fruits, vegetables, and of course seafood!! We thouroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Lucy Buffet’s newest venture, and we encourage everyone to stop by and see for yourself why Lucy B Goode is experiencing such rave reviews!! I know I’ll be dining there every chance I get!! In the 3 years we have been sharing with you all the fun and exciting events and venues, we have come to notice that there aren’t that many w Check out our Review on Diamond Jim’s & Mrs Donna’s w West Beach Grille Football Giveaways w Battle of the Badge w Gulf Coast Youth Football Fest w Reachin’ Inside to Touch Your Soul w Paddleboard Rentals w Parasailing w Sailing w Waverunner & Jet Ski Rentals w Go Carts w Hot Air Balloon Rides w Miniature Golf w Zoo w Dine at our Restaurant Advertisers Golf Courses Page 15 Museums & Historic Sites Page 15 venues that are just bars or nightclubs. There are many restaurants with bars, but just a few actual bars themselves. So this month we decided to do something a little different since we have already covered most of the bars and revisted them many many times. With football season, comes the search for the best place to watch all our favortie teams to cheer them on. For this issue I decided to revisit Baumhowers at The Wharf!! We had an Awesome dining experience there last year, but come on, Bob Baumhower is a legend in the Football World, so it was a No Brainer that we had to see what kind of football parties he hosted!! I’m Proud to say we were truly impressed and had a fabulous time cheering our Saints to Victory once again!! Who Dat!! November brings another year of our coast being graced with some of the Best Musical Talent around!! And this year is no different!! Frank Brown Songwriter’s Festival has so many great events planned and so many talented songwriters, singers, musicians, etc to make sure that our beautiful Alabama Coast sings with the Sound of Music!! So check their website and see who’s playing where so you can get out and enjoy it all!! There’s so much more going on that we share with you this month...Battle of the Badge, Gulf Coast Youth Football Fest and so much more!! So what are you waiting for...Get out & have some fun and enjoy everything that life and Gulf Shores / Orange Beach / Foley has to offer!! I know I’m going to, so I’ll see ya there!! If you owned waterfront property along the Gulf Coast between April 20, and December 31, 2010, you may be eligible for thousands of dollars in compensation through BP settlement fund (as long as you have not already signed a release with BP), simply for owning your waterfront property during that time, and regardless of whether you had vacation rentals or not. If you sold waterfront property along the Gulf Coast between April 20, and December 31, 2010, you may be eligible for tens of thousands of dollars in compensation through BP settlement fund (as long as you have not already signed a release with BP). If you entered into a sales agreement to sell your waterfront property after April 20, 2010, and closed prior to December 31, 2010, you are automatically entitled to compensation regardless of whether you can prove loss of value to your waterfront property or not. Our process for this type of claim is simple, and we do everything for you. Our 15% fee is due only if we collect from BP. Otherwise there is no obligation. Call us or email us now with your waterfront physical address and we will check your waterfront property’s eligibility on our interactive map for potential loss compensation. Areas covered in Alabama include all Gulf front beaches, Dauphin Island, Ft. Morgan, Little Lagoon, Cotton Bayou, Terry Cove, Wolf Bay, Palmetto Creek, Soldiers Creek, Ole River, Bayou St. John, and other areas.

Gulf Shores, ALWe’ve come full circle, back to LuLu’s, where we did our first review for Alabama Coast Observer. Owner Lucy Buffet has now added Lucy B Goode to the already magnificent dining and entertainment complex located at Homeport Marina, Gulf Shores, AL. Nestled over the marina, the gorgeous building boasts of sea and sand in a depressionera styled waterfront venue. Reminiscent of the seaside home in Daphne, AL, where Lucy’s father courted her mother, the beautiful restaurant recalls memories of a age where life was simpler, and pleasure easily at hand with what your lot afforded you. The life of a sailor brought to this family a love of the ocean and all of nature’s gifts. The sand colored stress board walls offer huge picture windows overlooking the numerous yachts in all their glory. The vaulted ceilings and open air ducts with a huge steel sculpted shrimp hanging from the stratosphere, the sand colored wicker chairs dressed with soft sea green cushions on top of the hard wood floors, and, the numerous paintings of the gulf and the bay, all by local artist, as well as the black and white photos of the Buffet family make you feel as though you can actually feel a soft breeze off the gulf as you enjoy a meal and a drink with family and friends. The Mason jar light fixtures and the coke bottle colored accessories along with the gigantic industrial plant sized fan ensconced in the highest point of the wall, together accentuate the longing for times gone by. At this point I am completely nostalgic and relaxed, yet excited to get our feeding frenzy on! Lucy B Goode, coastal café and small plates, takes pride in serving you a menu that is mostly created out of local farm grown fruits and vegetables; local raised meats, and, of course, locally caught fresh seafood. Managers Nina and Jenny greeted us at the door and gave us space to browse around and ask questions, while our server Brock took an order for Cheli’s iced tea and my Spicy Peach Margarita. A house specialty drink, this was a perfect starter with peach sweetening up the sour of the margarita just right. We began with “Pamenna” Cheese with Rosemary Flatbread, LuLu’s Sweet & Sassy Pickles and Roasted Pecans. Homemade pimento cheese, crisp and tasty flatbread crackers, the divine bread and butter pickles with a kick, and of course everyone knows that LA (lower Alabama) is the home of pecan orchards. Heck, even the wealthy dress their lawns with the perfectly aligned beautiful trees! We also indulged in the Gulf Shrimp Salad with Avocado – omg, a half an avocado peeled and filled brimming over with a delicious shrimp salad garnished with lemon, lime, and orange zest. This was so wonderful that I am now on a mission to recreate this at Kelly’s kitchen real soon! Other Cool Plates include LuLu’s West Indies Salad with Bayou La Batre jumbo lump blue crab, House Fried Chips with Cherry Tomato Salsa & Spicy Green Tomato Salsa, or a Mixed lettuce salad with pears, pecans, Bayside Blue cheese and sherryhoney herb vinaigrette that you may add chicken or shrimp to. Our first taste of the Warm Plates was a Cornmeal Fried Softshell Crab Poboy dressed on local baked French bread. Cheli was agape at (Continued on Page the size of that big
