NONAMECOLUMN FEBRUARY 2012 Denis Snow Greg Adler President & C.E.O. 4 / ORA FEBRUARY 2012 TIME FLIES Hard to believe that Off-Road Adventures magazine is into its 13th year (the October 2011 issue was our 12th anniversary issue). I guess, I should have been reminiscing about our anniversary in that issue, but it's December 27, 2011 as I'm writing this column and I'm thinking of the new year about to happen in a very few days and am being reflective of the year about to be done. We've got a lot to be thankful for in these 12+ years. We've been able to experience off-roading around the world - Africa, Russia, South America, Australia; and obviously, all around here in the U.S. and Mexico; our great writer/photographers have taken us on some wonderful adventures through the years. Thanks to Jim Allen, Ken Brubaker, Ned Bacon, Chris Collard, Sven & Magdalena Schlogl, Bruce Smith, Larry Walton, Allen Merritt, Steve Temple, Debbie Economos, Trent Riddle, Sue Mead, Rick Russell, Harry Wagner, Phil Dayton, Todd Kaho, John Stewart, Tom Morr, Mike Magda, Tom Wilson, Jim Brightly, Steve Anderson, Trent McGee, Verne Simmons, and all the non-professional writers who have shared their experiences on the trails, races, at off-roading events, and events in support of our soldiers. We're also thankful for all our advertising manufacturers who have supported us through the years. Without them, we wouldn't be here. They are the best in the truck, SUV, and sport vehicle business. PRESIDENT'SCORNER It's February so that means things are starting to thaw out from winter. Spring is around the corner so it's time to start thinking about getting your rig trail ready. To help in that area we have our Exterior Parts Buyers Guide packed full of accessories like bumpers, side steps, body protection and more. Just the stuff you need if you plan on heading out to The King of the Hammers which kicks off on February 3-12. This unique event is a blend of a desert race and rock crawl over some of the toughest terrain in the world. All this takes place just a few hours from Los Angeles in Johnson Valley, CA. In 2012 they are introducing the Smittybilt Everyman Challenge race. This race is geared for the guy who has a built daily driver and wants to take on the Hammers. The green flag drops on Sunday, February 5 for the Everyman Challenge. There are events taking place the entire week out there in Hammertown (Means Dry Lake in Johnson Valley) and the main event runs on Friday, February 10. Team 4Wheel Parts will be out there in strength with several teams flying our colors and going after the title of the "King!" Check out more info at team4wheelparts.com. February is also the start of the Truck & Jeep Fest season. We kick off these events on Feb 25-26 in San Mateo, CA. Look for plenty of excitement and great deals on all the top brands in the off-road industry. Enjoy this month's Off-Road Adventures magazine. Eustis, VA RUDY AND POP'S PROJECT I love your magazine. My first vehicle was my '97 Jeep TJ. I have owned this Jeep since my father gave it to me when I was seventeen years old. I have taken really good care of it over the years and spent a lot of time making it what it is today. It would be a great honor to have my Jeep in your great magazine and let you take a look at what my dad and I have done. Thank you, Rudy Norton 8
