BEFORE LETTERS &STUFF MATT'S BEFORE & AFTER JK I have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara of which I have customized to the extreme. I have placed a 6-inch Rough Country X-Series lift with Rough Country 1.75 spacers front and rear, as well as a Rough Country 1.25 body lift. My Jeep also includes the Rough Country Dual Steering stabilizers and rides on 40/15.50/20 Nitto Mud Grapplers and 20x9 XD Series Addict Rims as well as custom Tom Woods front and rear drive shafts. It also features Smittybilt XRC front and rear bumpers and Bushwacker flat style fender flares. This is as far as the customizations have taken me, however I have not limited myself to this and am constantly thinking of ways to top the greatest of ideas and make my vehicle that much closer to being one of a kind. FEATURE VEHICLE BIRD PREY It's almost a performance paradox. ÖÖIn stock form, Ford's F-150 SVT Raptor is rugged yet smooth, lockedand-loaded for off-road adventures, yet comfy on the street. Rolling down the highway, supple suspension insulates passengers from bumps and jolts. Tackle a rocky excursion, and it goes from a mild-mannered boulevard cruiser to a hard-scrabble scrambler that's tough as nails. Who knew? Well, Lyle Wagy, for one. He's an autobody shop owner by trade in Albuquerque, New Mexico, located at a key crossroads of interstates, but surrounded by an off-road paradise of desert terrain. So he needed a truck for tooling around town, yet could pull off the pavement for kicking up dust and sand. He already knew the lay of the land, as a regular at the Montessa OHV area south of town, and the popular Nine Mile Hill, among others. After all, he's owned a number of off-road rigs such as a Toyota Land Cruiser, '83 Chevy with 44-inch tires, an H1 Hummer, and '75 Ford Bronco rock crawler. The local 4 Wheel Parts store in Albuquerque had been a big help on the Bronco in particular, giving him a good grounding before taking off in his Raptor. Given his deep background in 4x4s, he realized the factory-enchanced Raptor had even more potential, after looking at its chassis mods and seven-inch wider track, along with easy-operating gearing controls for handling various off-road environments. Time to sharpen its talons with some upgrades. After nearly 100 10 / ORA JANUARY 2012 OF Sharpening the Claws on a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Story Steve Temple Photos Steve Temple
