NONAMECOLUMN JULY 2011 Denis Snow Greg Adler President & C.E.O. 6 / ORA JULY 2011 While you're planning your summer off-roading activities, think about doing something that gives back like this...newsletter TREAD LIGHTLY! LAUNCHES STEWARDSHIP SMALL GRANT PROGRAM The program is designed to help individuals and clubs organize clean-ups, trail maintenance work days, and other small stewardship projects. The maximum grant amount is $500, and those funds can be used to purchase supplies like seedlings, tools, garbage bags, water for volunteers, or to rent equipment. To be eligible for a Tread Lightly! Stewardship Grant, applicants must be either a Club Member or an Individual 3-Year Member of Tread Lightly!. The simple online application process requires a letter of support from a representative of the land management agency or landowner and, if applicable, any additional documentation including photos of the area. Projects can start anytime after June and must be completed and final reports submitted by September 30, 2011. Application deadlines will follow a quarterly schedule to encourage the ongoing efforts of volunteers in revitalizing their favorite recreation areas throughout the year. The second grant cycle will have a deadline of August 18, 2011. The program is funded through a partnership with Quadratec, which donates a portion of the proceeds from several off-road vehicle products such as floor liners and grab bars to Tread Lightly!'s Restoration for Recreation program. 8 / ORA JULY 2011 LETTERS &STUFF GREG ADLER, 4WP PRESIDENT First, allow me to congratulate you on the progress you and the 4WP team are making in off-road racing. Completing the 2011 King of the Hammers race in 5th place is very impressive. I would also like to let you know that I have been a customer of 4 Wheel Parts for 20 years, specifically at the Compton & Redondo Beach Performance Centers. Due to recent experiences at the Redondo Beach facility, I will likely be a customer for another 20 years! I think you should know that the entire staff has made every effort to accommodate my parts and service needs for my family of trucks. Recently, the rear pinion gear on my '99 Chevy Silverado lost a tooth and I needed to get it repaired immediately. Not only did the team handle my problem in one day, they gave the truck a thorough inspection to check for any other signs of damage or noise. I am grateful that they tightened some loose hardware that was causing an annoying noise, so when I left the shop the truck was riding better than ever. Like most automotive enthusiasts, I love my truck. It's my daily driver and my weekend warrior. I depend on it daily, so it can be stressful when parts break. The guys at 4WP Redondo made it easy to get my truck fixed and back on the road... and off the road! Specifically, special thanks to: Drew & Marco (best parts guys ever: friendly & always get the right parts) Eric (store manager: honest, fair & courteous) Nick (assistant manager & all-around good guy) Frank, Jesus & Adolph (top-notch technicians & truck guys) Mike (service manager: incredible attention to detail) Sincerely, Mike Hanel Redondo Beach, CA Email your questions, comments and images (in jpeg format at 2-5 mb). with your name, address & phone number to info@oramagazine.com 8 MY 2002 FORD F-150 37x13.50x18 Nitto Mud Grapplers; 18x9 XD Rockstars, 1.5" Fred Goeske wheel spacers. 4" RCD Suspension lift, 3" Performance Accessories Body Lift, torsion bar crank. Mike Burrows, Clarksville, TN YOUR WAIT IS OVER Hello, I really wanted to be in an issue of your magazine for a really long time. It has taken me about three years to complete all the work on this truck. I have a 2005 Ford F-150 STX with a 6-inch Fabtech kit with a 2.5inch spacer on top of it and 37x13x17 Toyo M/Ts. I have boondock bumpers front and rear also. This truck came to me with no power windows or locks and I've added all that, plus red and black leather seats. Thanks, Ty p
