NONAMECOLUMN MAY 2012 Denis Snow Greg Adler President & C.E.O. 4 / ORA MAY 2012 As you can see on our front cover, we were finally able to chase down Rand Green long enough to get some great shots of his Rescue Green JK with a feature story starting on page 8. And it is an inspiring story as his love affair with his JK helped him to rehabilitate from Lyme's Disease, build his relationship with his sons, and develop his fabrication skills. Speaking of inspiring stories, check out page 16 and read how the 4 Wheel Parts store in West Palm Beach, Florida put together an amazing event to honor Wounded Warriors and Stand Down House that helps in rehabilitating homeless vets. Last month, 4 Wheel Parts and sister companies, Pro Comp, Smittybilt, G2, and Rubicon Express were out in force in Moab at the Easter Jeep Safari. Team 4 Wheel Parts ran in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing series that kicked off March 31 at Firebird Raceway in Chandler, Arizona. This month you should head south to Dallas, Texas for the 4 Wheel Parts Truck & Jeep Fest on May 19-20 at the Market Hall. In June, our biggest Truck & Jeep Fest event of the series takes place on the 9th and 10th at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, California. Both events will be offering great deals on parts and accessories. Also, in May, I will be joining my fellow SEMA board members in Washington, DC to meet with members of Congress on very important issues to our sport such as land use in areas such as Johnson Valley. Be sure to continue your support of this most important off-road vehicle recreational area by finding out what you can do at: savethehammers.org. Be sure to check out this issue for the great items in the Engine Performance Buyer's Guide to help you squeeze as much fuel economy out of your vehicle as possible. As always, thank you for your business with 4 Wheel Parts and enjoy this month's Off-Road Adventures magazine. - Greg Adler p Exclusive magazine for customers of 4 WHEEL PARTS WHOLESALERS, 4WHEEL DRIVE HARDWARE and off-roading enthusiasts everywhere 400 W. 6 / ORA MAY 2012 LETTERS &STUFF SPENCER'S LARIAT This is my 2007 Ford F-150 Lariat 4x4. I bought it stock and since then have bought a Rough Country 6" lift, 35" Toyo A/Ts, True Dual exhaust with FlowMaster Super 44's. Fabricated my own light bar with 3 Pro Comp 9" driving lights, and a Kenwood 1000 watt amp with a Kenwood 12" sub. Thanks! Spencer Wallace HAND OVER THE KEYS, PLEASE This is my 1988 Toyota 4Runner. It's got a 4-inch suspension lift, Bushwacker fender flares, and 35inch Pro Comp tires and gearing purchased and installed at your fine establishment in Sacramento, CA. Did I mention it's a diesel? It has a 1KTZE turbo diesel from a 1993 Toyota Surf from Japan. The only downside is that my wife wants to drive it all the time. We look forward to reading your magazine every month, keep up the good work. I am currently stationed here with the Coast Guard and we receive your magazine. That's how I learned about getting my truck in your magazine. I love it and want to get it to my house now as well. My truck is a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 2WD (yes it's a 2WD) with a 7" suspension lift on 35x13.50R18's Mickey Thompson Baja MTs and the rims are 18x10. The lift is compiled of 3" Rough Country coil springs, 4" CST spindles, 3" rear blocks, and 3" rear lift shackles that I put together, a "budget saver." The bumper is a home built push/baja/winch bumper that I made to accommodate what I wanted it for. The winch is housed behind the grille on a plate I built to keep it hidden and out of the elements. The lights are KCs for those dark nights (or people that don't know where the bright light switch is on their car, he, he, he). I also built the rear tire carrier modeled after a Jeep. It swings out so I can still access the bed without taking the tire off. The license plate holder is also home built out of 1/4" steel plate and is easily removable for off-roading. Engine mods are a K&N cold air with filter and dual exhaust (high flow cat, y-pipe, dual Flowmaster 44 series 2 chambers). Inside is a complete matching Sony X-Plod sound system (head unit, 6 1/4s, 6x9s,10" subs). Also have two TVs on the headrests for the kids. The only other things I can think of are the step bars and tint. I hope you put my truck in your magazine, I would love to see it in there. You would make my day. And thanks for everything, keep up the good work. John Webb 8 ADAM'S RUBICON IS THE BEST SO FAR This is my 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Thanks to Go Jeep, Jerry at DSI, the team at 4 Wheel Parts Denver and my wonderful wife we have added a 4" Pro Comp Long Arm Kit, 35" Pro Comp XMT tires, Pro Comp Series 98 wheels, ORF rock rails, Smittybilt XRC bumpers, tire carrier and winch with synthetic line, PIAA 520 lights and some other cool add-ons like head and tail light guards, neoprene seat covers, fitted floor liners, a Bear Cat CB with Firestik antenna and interior mounted goodies like a Maglite, fire extinguisher and grab handles. This is my third modified "Wrangler" after a '74 CJ5, and an '02 TJ and this is the best one so far. Adam P. Smith p

Rand Green and his JK are both ready for spending his free time on the trails with family and friends. However, now that this computer programmer has become a fabricator and JK builder, he is contemplating a custom matching trailer. RECOVERY JK 2011 4 WHEEL PARTS' CUSTOMER COVER WINNER Rand Green was an early adopter ÖÖof the, then new, Jeep Wrangler JK. Early in 2007 he decided that he wanted to share his love of the outdoors with his two young sons. Hiking was out for such young boys, now just 6 and 8, so trail riding made the most sense. Rand went to the Jeep dealer and came home with a Rescue Green 4-door JK and began to fix it up for the trails. Unfortunately, shortly after the Jeep came home, Rand took ill. A severe case of Lyme's Disease left Rand so sore and stiff in the joints that just moving from the couch to the recliner was literally a daunting task. However, Rand's passion to build his Jeep and take the boys out was greater than the pain and forced him to move forward, both literally and with the Jeep buildup. As Rand transformed his A Rescue Green Jeep that Saved Its Owner Story Trent Riddle Photography Trent Riddle Jeep, it helped transform his life and that of his boys, too. To improve the power output of the engine, the stock 3.8L V6 was fitted with a RIPP Super Charger and intercooler as well a set of RIPP long tube headers. A custom exhaust by NRG Metal Art, Designs and Fabrication was required due to the long arm suspension. RECOVERY JK 2011 4 WHEEL PARTS' CUSTOMER COVER WINNER trails with the larger 35-inch tall tires. For tires and wheels Rand selected Toyo 37x13.50R17 M/Ts mounted on Raceline RT233 Monster beadlock wheels. Of course, this package won't fit on a Jeep with stock suspension. To fit the larger rubber and to increase trail capability a Full Traction short arm suspension was first installed. Later, when the long arm kit came out, Rand made the upgrade with a few new Full Traction components. Rand custom painted the components Rescue Green to match the exterior. Other suspension mods include a rear cantilever suspension kit from Off Road Evolution, along with 2.5-inch King coil-over shocks and Teraflex Speedbumps front and rear. NOT E: The cantilever kit was customized by Rand and NRG Metal Art, Designs and Fabrications to work with the Full Traction long arm kit. In his quest to improve the Jeep's crawl ratio, Rand replaced the stock Tcase with its 2.72:1 low range with a Rocktrac T-case, from a 2008 Rubicon Edition JK. The Rocktrac's 4.0:1 low was further improved with the addition of a Rubi-Crawler from Advance Driving Straight, Steady & Strong Ford Adjustable Track Bar - Accommodates lifted Super Duty pick-ups up to 6-inches - No need to remove the bar from the truck to adjust - Made from high strength, heat treated forged components - Black Chromate coating & comes with poly urethane bushings Poly Urethane Bushings Dodge Sway Bar End Link Kit - Dual Pivot Design allows for greater amount of articulation & less stress - Long life Urethane bushing design for greater ex without breaking Gas & Diesel Pick-ups! 10 / ORA MAY 2012 One of SEMA`s Best New products! - Truck Trend Magazine Ford Cam Caster Adjustor Kit Adjustable - Makes correcting caster to a more positive angle easier - Prevents a number of potential steering problems - Reduces tire cupping and helps steering wheel return to center!
