Husker Shorts By The Omaha Scene Staff Little remains to be said about last week’s game that hasn’t already been covered. But there are three things in which all of Huskerland can take pride: 1.) The Huskers currently have a plus-6 turnover margin which ranks fifth in the FBS> But, don’t forget that number was greatly aided by Wyoming in the fourth quarter of Game 2. 2.) Nebraska won its first regular season non-conference home game vs. a ranked opponent since 2001, when they beat Notre Dame 27-10. 3.) They’re finally back in the polls. After being unranked all of last year, the Cornhuskers haven’t been rated since the end of the 2014 season. Players to watch for Northwestern: Senior Austin Carr who has 18 receptions for 283 yards and running back Justin Jackson who has 260 yards rushing on 63 carries. After losing a couple of games against some less-than-stellar competition, the Northwestern Wildcats last week picked up their first win of the season against Duke. No matter what their record is, we know that they can be tough team to beat, although Northwestern’s two wins since Nebraska joined the B1G came in Lincoln. Nebraska needs to make sure not to have a letdown after such a big win. Last week was a real positive for the Huskers as they ran the ball well in the second half and minimized mistakes. Expect that progress to continue against Northwestern. Mental mistakes also were kept to a minimum, so as long as they’re able to shake off any jitters from the first away game, look for that trend to continue as well. The Huskers shouldn’t have a problem handling this Northwestern team: NU 42, NW 14 in only the 10th gridiron meeting between the two schools. 8 The Omaha Scene | September 21 - September 27 | Volume 2 Issue 34
